I lost my dear best friend this weekend. Unexpected. And although he would be quite annoyed with me for posting this, if you knew Richard Johnson at all, you’d know, he’d like that I loved him enough not to care how annoyed he’d be! He was a good soul. A great friend. Call your loved ones, remind them how much you love them. May you rest in sweet peace Richard.

  2. Sincere regrets for your loss. As recently as yesterday emails among my college frat brothers with family losses and one facing his own end due to kidney issues. Believe me when I say I share your feelings. Like the old adage says “give flowers while the receiver can smell them.” And GREAT of you to share your love for him.

    I don’t know if you remember me (Shannon), I too am a dear friend of Richard’s. We met once when he came to LA (I used to live there) and we all went out together. My heart is shattered and I will miss him everyday of my life. I know you will too and I just want you to know I share in your sorrow. Girl, you’re right he’d be so mad at you for posting this but I’m so glad you did (hee, hee)!!!

    (I just saw him in March at my wedding in Miami and he brought so much joy to the occasion) We’re both so lucky to have had him in our lives.

  6. Carmen – what a heartfelt tribute and picture. Thank you for sharing your sentiments – friends are sooo important and so often we take the time we have with them for granted. I will be seeing a goup of my friends this weekend – thanks for reminding me how important they are. I have to make sure they know it!

    • Please do make sure they know it — I feel great that Richard was clear about how I felt about our friendship, what it meant to me. And I know exactly what I meant to him. Although I’m heartbroken because I’ll miss him, I’m okay because we were solid. So yes, tell your friends for sure. And do it always.
