Inner View

As I lay on the cool grass looking up towards the greyish blue sky… I see something.  It’s slowly falling — dancing in the quiet still air.

Is it a feather? A petal?  A piece of something?  Maybe clothing or paper?  I can’t tell.  It’s small enough to not really see, but big enough to believe.

The wind slightly makes itself known.  The piece skips a step and then tumbles perfectly into a new position…a newer journey, perhaps?  What grace this dancer-of-sorts has.  Nothing deters its simple waltz across the early morning sky. If anything, it seems to embrace a spectators’ spirit to be even more impressive.

In The Bible It Says. . .

In The Bible It Says. . .

For whatever reason, this has been the topic of many discussions these past few weeks in my little world and for what it’s worth, I don’t think I have the ability to argue the points any further.

Truth is, I’m not a fighter.  Well, that’s probably not true in most areas of my life, but honestly, I give up!  I seriously can’t listen to anyone who keeps using the Bible as evidence to complete or make any argument.

And I admit it – the second the words, “In the Bible it says…” come out of someone’s mouth, I just turn off completely.  My brain, my body, just shuts off.  I’m done.  I’m not listening any further.  Call it whatever you’d like – but understand, that to me, it is simply unbelievable that in 2010 people are still trying to use the Bible, to make an argument (only when it’s convenient of course).

So, no, I’m not very religious at all.  Yes, I grew up Catholic – so, yes, I’m also always in recovery.  However I do believe in God or something more, greater, better – something AFTER.   But all this other “stuff” that religion abuses…well…I’m done.  And I’d say I mean no disrespect, but you know – I think I’m ready to be a little disrespectful about it – enough already!

Please stop using the Bible to make your arguments!  Please!

In my opinion, the Creator of the TV show The West Wing, Aaron Sorkin, said it best.  He might as well be God, and Martin Sheen, Richard Schiff, Janel Moloney, Rob Lowe, Allison Janney, Bradley Whitford, Dule Hill and John Spencer, his Disciples.

Let me “read” you a passage from his Work and share it with you.

This is the “Word” as I believe it to be so:

Amen.

Peace be with you.
