The CW’s TV Hit Wild Cards Completely Took Over Friday Night Live

This week’s Friday Night Live started with a simple check‑in, and somehow turned into one of the funniest, most chaotic, most passionate TV‑nerd episodes we’ve ever done! Canadian TV at that! We loved this show!

RECAP:

We opened with the weekly “How was your week?” and discovered that all three of us felt like this week dragged. Cynthia shared that she went to her doctor to ask if she was perimenopausal, and she’s feeling good overall — losing weight, breathing better, and taking care of herself.

Rick had an “alright” week at work, but the big update was about his mom. He bought a new device that alerts him when she wakes up, and he’s been helping her practice her signature. That led to a whole conversation about safety and why he should absolutely be power of attorney.

Carmen talked about being in flux — the industry shifting, old clients still calling her even though she’s not working for them, and how it’s not about being taken advantage of. Sometimes people call the person who actually knows what they’re doing, even if they’re no longer on the payroll.

And then… the rest of the show — a full hour and a half — became a deep dive into Wild Cards. Spoilers everywhere because Cynthia cannot help herself.

We talked about why the show feels like Ocean’s Eleven meets a genuinely good Hallmark romance. Cynthia and Rick were not fans of Vivienne, while Carmen defended her fiercely, seeing her as a mother who spent fifteen years on the run trying to protect her family.

We all agreed the boy band episode wasn’t our favorite, but we loved the bomb‑under‑the‑chair episode, the egg episode, and the one where Max helps a kidnapped woman over the phone. We talked about every character — Vanessa Morgan, Giacomo Gianniotti, Jason Priestley, Fletcher Donovan, Terry Chen, Tamara Taylor, Martin Sheen — all of them.

We talked about the writing, the acting, the chemistry, the charisma. We talked about Chief Li’s secrets, the prom episode, Yates and Simmons being hilarious, and why the show isn’t advertised in the United States the way it deserves. Canada gets it. The U.S. doesn’t. And we’re happy to promote it for free because good storytelling deserves an audience. We even went through the Wild Cards questions, which turned into a whole debate of its own.

If you didn’t watch Wild Cards, this episode of Friday Night Live might not be for you. But if you did? You’re going to feel right at home. And again, please watch it — we get nothing from it – but it brough us so much JOY!

It’s on the CW Network APP  @thecw  and you can also catch it on AMAZON prime.
